Meet Muskan, a hijabi girl in Karnataka who was taunted by Hindu pupils.
"The hijab is a component of a Muslim girl's identity," Muskan argues.
Muskan, the brave Muslim girl who held fast in the face of a crowd of Hindu far-right extremists in India's Karnataka, is a student at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial College.
Muskan's video of her confronting the Hindu crowd at her college the day before has gone viral on social media, garnering praise from everybody for her bravery.
Muskan explained her story by stating that she had gone to her institution to submit her homework.
"When I arrived at the campus, a throng of [Hindu] radicals tried to stop me at the gate," she stated in an interview with Indian media.
They wouldn't let me in because I was wearing a "burqa," she explained, adding that some of the mob's youngsters were making obscene gestures at her.
She went on to say, "I wasn't frightened."
"I started yelling Allah hu Akbar" because Hindu radicals were shouting "Jai Shri Ram," she stated.
Meanwhile, the college president and instructors arrived and defended me, she said. Muskan said that her principal never told them they couldn't wear hijab. The majority of the mob, she claimed, were outsiders.
"Hijab is a part of a Muslim girl's identity," she added, adding that they will continue to fight the hijab.
Muskan receives INR0.5 million from Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind.
Muskan has been awarded 0.5 million rupees by the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind in appreciation of her bravery and standing up to bullies.
In the Indian state of Karnataka, Hindu fundamentalists have made life tough for hijab-wearing students.
